A humble suggestion to my friends re: Facebook's Terms of Use
I began experimenting Facebook a few weeks ago. Since I have seen a few other group members mention Facebook also I submit the following for other users' consideration. Actually I wrote this just a few minutes ago particularly with my existing and future Facebook friends in mind.
Harambee,
==========
I have really been enjoying seeing photos and reading about friends and their families during these first few weeks of experience with Facebook! :)
.
That being said, I do humbly suggest to my friends being aware of Facebook's Terms of Use about the content that you use at this site.
.
A hyperlink to Facebook's Terms of Use appears at the bottom of each page that your browser receives from Facebook's servers (so far as I can tell). Scroll any page all the way toward the bottom and look for the word 'Terms' toward the right.
.
I suggest looking over the 'Licenses' section in particular (about halfway down that page). The most current revision of the Terms of Use as I write this note (dated Feb.4.2009) basically says that you as a Facebook user grant Facebook free license to do pretty much whatever they please with whatever you upload to the site.
.
Although I don't have any particular reason at this point in time to think that Facebook is up to anything particularly sinister, I suppose that a general sense of skepticism I have developed from studying companies over time suggests caution. And that is all this note is about... simply sharing that thought with you.
.
In any case I do look forward to keeping in touch with you :)
