Is it Semantics?

#0, by matrixone05, 01 June 2011 12:44 AM

I saw this elsewhere and thought it was a good topic of conversation....
"How do you distinguish between I am going out because we are friends and I am dating you because I am interested in being more than friends? My guy friends said "if the woman never distinctly says what she wants in terms of dating and relationship, he feels no need to give it to her."
"So even if the woman says, I am dating to get married - if she doesn't say I am dating you to get married then it does not count. "Is it semantics and he is playing games? What do you think?

He is right

women (not saying all but all of those it apply to) need to stop ASSUMING........those assumptions usually put yall behind the 8ball..........wondering why did he do this to me.........i thought he loved me..........i thought he was the one

when talking to a man think of it like a contract...........if it doesn't say it then it doesn't exist........if it doesn't say "will cook dinner sometimes" then don't assume that dinner will be cooked some times........if it doesn't say I love you then don't assume that he loves you

Playing games.

This theory is a double edge sword. Some men will complain that she never voiced her concerns so he acted appropriately and then some will turn around and say that she voiced her concerns too soon and too aggressively, so he didn't stick around.

The bottom line is that there needs to be a mutual agreement. Regardless of the semantics of the agreement, if both parties agree then there shouldn't be any issues.

I agree with both of you.... I have never understood the "don't say what you want" "just let it flow" attitude... that only works if it eventually flows your way and you have enough patience to still be there when it happens.More people have issues and baggage because they didn't open their mouths to understand what the other person wanted or expected...I am not wasting my time with someone that is at the least on a totally different page....
